Cook with Stanley - Smoothies

The following are some smoothie suggestions. All are quite versatile using fruit in season and are a super way of fooling children into eating fruit. For small babies, mix with baby rice (for a really nutritious breakfast or lunch) or with breakfast cereals (a great way to cut down on dairy intake for dietary reasons).



Stanley -SmoothiesIngredients Banana Smoothie

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup of yoghurt
  • Juice of 2 oranges


  • Purée the banana, milk, yoghurt, orange juice and honey in a blender, then add enough vanilla to give it a good flavour.

Serves 1


Ingredients Strawberry Smoothie

  • 6oz strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • Juice of two oranges


  • Remove green stem from strawberries. Purée all ingredients together.

 Serves 1


Ingredients Pear Smoothie

  • 1 cup pear juice*
  • 1 ripe pear*
  • 2 drops almond essence
  • 1 cup yoghurt


  • Purée everything until smooth then pour over ice.

  • *Pears tinned in their own juice may be used. Tinned fruit in its juice (with no sugar added) is a brilliant substitute for fresh fruit in winter. Purée everything until smooth then pour over ice.

 Serves 1
