Ideal for replacing inefficient open fires and open fires with back boilers.

SOLIS 900 in Grey Setting

Choosing a stove, be it insert or freestanding, is one of the most important decisions you will make. Open fires are wasteful of energy with more than 70% of the energy going up the chimney. Choosing a stove with a back boiler (or back boiler stove) will help to improve your savings and efficiency considerably.

Replacing an open fire with a stove will improve the home BER energy rating on average by 8-10% per annum, resulting in lower heating costs.

What is an Insert or Inset Stove?

Cara Insert Stove

Insert or Inset stoves are integrated stoves which are built into a standard fireplace opening. Inserts are an ideal solution for smaller rooms or fireplaces with narrow hearths.Insert stoves are available in room heating only and central heating mode namely the Cara Insert stove, Cara Glass Insert Stove and Cara+ Insert stove respectively.

Freestanding stoves tend to be larger in size and take up more space in the room. They can be located on the existing hearth provided it's suitable for the size and weight of the stove.

New! The Cara Insert OSA (Outside Air) is now available. Please note when ordering, this is a new product and not a kit and needs to be ordered as such.

What is clearance to combustibles and why are they important?

Your fireplace must be made from a non combustible material such as granite or marble or in the case of wood be large enough to ensure is adheres to the selected stove clearance to combustibles requirements.

Clearances to combustibles are outlined in each of stove manuals and must be observed when installing your stove.

For more information, please go to our stove manual section

What is the difference between the Cara and Cara+ Insert stoves?

Cara Plus Insert StoveRoom Heater Stove
 - The Cara insert stove is the ideal solution for those who want the warmth and efficiency of a cast iron stove with the appearance of an open fire. Taking up minimal space on the heart with little intrusion into the room, it is the perfect choice where space is limited.

The Cara Insert also comes with a filler piece in matt black which will allow you to fit into most curved fireplaces.

For more details go to the Cara Insert Page or Cara Glass Insert Page

Central Heating Stove - Replace your inefficient back boiler and open fire with a powerful home heating solution. Using the Cara+ to replace a back boiler will improve your heating efficiency considerably. The Cara+ heats up to 10 radiators and provides a comfortable 3.6kW of heat to the room itself.

For more details go to the Cara+ Insert Page

Can I use the Cara+ Insert with my back boiler?*

Your back boiler must be decommissioned before installing the Cara+ Insert stove. However existing connections can be reconfigured for connection to the Cara+. Consult with your installer before making a stove purchase.

*Assumption is that there is only one chimney per household and the back boiler is in the location where you want to install your stove.
