Cara Insert stove side profileCan I fit the Cara into my open fireplace?

Yes – The Cara fits into either standard 16” or 18” wide x 22”or 23” high. The Cara requires a minimum depth of 380mm (15”) to fit into the fireplace and if a rear firebrick or back boiler is fitted in the fire opening, it will most likely need to be removed to provide adequate clearance for installation. New! We now have a Cara Insert  that will suit most oval fireplace solutions.

What room size can the Cara Insert stove heat?

The output of our Cara Insert stove is 6.5kW and will heat a standard room with a 9 foot ceiling and an area of 20 foot x 20 foot with standard insulation.

Can I use the Cara stove with a back boiler?

Unfortunately the Cara Insert does not work with a back boiler and you will need to remove the back boiler before your Cara will be installed. We have a boiler model of the Cara Insert stove which will heat up to 4 radiators.

Can the Cara heat radiators?

Yes, the Cara Insert boiler model is now available and will heat up to 4 standard radiators and provide 2kW to the room.

Open fires can lose anything between 70% and 80% of their heat up the chimney while the Cara Insert stove retains as much as 78.4% of heat in the room, saving you fuel and money as fuel is burned more efficiently it also benefits the environment.

Is the Cara as efficient as a stove?

Unlike some insert models, the Cara Insert stove is encased in the back and acts like a stove. With 78.4% efficiency it is comparative to our other Stanley stoves efficiency.

Will I burn less fuel with my Cara Insert stove?

In comparison to an open fire one being 27% efficient (average efficiency open fire) and the other 78.4% efficient (Cara Insert stove) we estimate that you burn up to 60% less fuel in a year compared to an open fire.

What fuels can you burn in the Cara?

The Cara Insert stove is a multi fuel stove which allows you to burn anything from wood and peat briquettes to coal and anthracite. Do not use fuels with a Petro-coke ingredient as this may cause the grate to overheat, causing damage. Reduced outputs will result when fuels of lower calorific value are used.

Outside efficiency what other advantages are there over an open fire?

Installing the Cara Insert stove will actually seal your room preventing any draughts coming down your chimney. This happens whether the Cara is lighting or not.  The Cara also offers a stunning focal point and is much easier to clean and light than a standard open fireplace.

The Cara comes standard with a stainless steel flue adaptor & 12” length of rigid pipe (worth up to €100) which will flue your Cara directly up the chimney.

Do I need to line my chimney before installing the Cara?

This depends on the quality of your chimney. If your chimney is relatively new or in good condition, there is no need to get this lined. However if you have concerns as regards cracks, It is recommended that a flue liner of diameter 125mm be used to line the chimney, the liner should be approved for use with solid fuel.

Do I need a chimney to install the Cara?

Yes. The stove is a radiant room heater and must be connected to a chimney of proper size and type.

Is the Cara manufactured in Ireland?

Waterford Stanley employs over 120 people in Waterford where the Cara Insert stove is designed, developed and manufactured. In addition, the Cara is supported by Marketing. Sales and Services which are all based in Waterford.

How much is the Cara stove?

Recommended retail price for the non boiler Cara is €999 matt black and €1299 enamel.  Boiler model is now available and has an RRP of €1299 matt black and €1499 enamel.
